What's new for 2021?

For 2021, the Volvo S60 continues its third generation with significant enhancements to the base Momentum trim level and a rebranded hybrid powertrain.

For the new model year, the S60 fortifies its list of standard driver-assistance technologies, adding steering-adaptive LED headlights (that turn with the wheels for improved low-light visibility around corners) and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The Momentum trim also adds exterior enhancements like LED fog lights, power-folding auto-dimming side mirrors, passive entry with illuminated door handles, a power trunk lid, and a new 18-inch wheel design.

Volvo also renamed the S60's T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain to "Recharge."

Volvo S60 Performance

More than a luxury sedan, the S60 delivers a thrilling driving experience, with balanced dimensions, sophisticated suspension, and sharp handling. A double-wishbone front suspension and integral rear suspension provide impressive agility on curves and winding back roads. Three engine options provide abundant propulsion for merging onto the highway or safely passing a large truck. An eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission is common to all powertrains.

• T5: A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive is standard.


• T6: A turbocharged and supercharged (twincharged) 2.0-liter engine producing 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel-drive is standard.


• Recharge: Previously branded "T8," this plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs a twincharged 2.0-liter paired with an electric motor and battery pack, producing a total output of 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard, and Recharge models have an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 21 miles.

Trim Levels and Highlighted Features

Momentum: Instead of reserving the most premium features for the upper tiers and packages, the Volvo S60 includes many of them on the base trim level. And for 2021, the Momentum trim equips even amenities (see What's New section). In addition to an array of IntelliSafe advanced driver-assistance technologies, standard features include:

• A 12.3-inch instrument panel/digital gauge cluster
• A panoramic sunroof

R-Design: The R-Design accentuates the S60's impressive performance with sporty Gloss Black exterior style enhancements and features like:

• 10-way power-adjustable front seats
• Premium leather and fabric upholstery
• Four-zone automatic climate control
• Sport-tuned suspension
• A sport steering wheel with paddle shifters

Inscription: Equipped similarly to R-Design, the Inscription trim focuses on the S60's luxury experience, with exclusive color and trim options and features like:

• Unique chrome accents
• Leather upholstery
• Genuine driftwood inlays
• Harman Kardon audio
• Available Luxury Seating Package: Exclusive to Inscription, this package includes premium leather upholstery and front seats with ventilation, power side bolsters, and massage.

Advanced Package: All S60 trims can add the optional Advanced package, which includes features like a 360-degree Surround View camera system, a head-up display, and Volvo's Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system with Adaptive Cruise Control.
