What's new to 2023
The 2023 Volvo XC90 renames trim levels, refreshes engine output, and adds a new Google-based infotainment system. The new trim lineup consists of the Core, Plus, and Ultimate. Engines have been renamed to B5 and B6, with both being mild hybrids.
Performance
The B5 engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cyldiner that makes 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The B6 engine provides Eatontown drivers with 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Both engines work in unison with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offer up four-wheel drive. There's also a pure plug-in hybrid of the XC90, which is the XC90 Recharge, which offers a T8 plug-in hybrid engine that makes 455 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque.
Technology
No matter the trim selected, drivers can look forward to serious tech with the 2023 Volvo XC90. The Core trim comes outfitted with a 10-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a touchscreen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a remote monitoring/control via smartphone. Things only get better the higher up the trim ladder you go. The Plus trim adds a surround-view camera system while the Ultimate trim offers up a Harman Kardon premium audio system and a head-up display. The Volvo XC90 also makes some tech features available strictly as individual upgrades; Long Branch drivers can look to a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.
Interior Features
If comfort and convenience features are on your mind, then you can rest easy with the luxuriously equipped 2023 Volvo XC90. The Core trim boasts quad-zone automatic climate control, faux leather upholstery, heated front seats, power folding rear headrests, and a panoramic sunroof. Moving to the Plus trim allows for leather upholstery to be had, along with wood interior trim, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and an integrated second-row child booster seat. The Ultimate trim brings even more to Red Bank, NJ drivers. The Ultimate trim comes with a crystal shift knob, premium leather upholstery, adjustable front seats side bolsters and extendable cushions, heated/ventilated front seats, and rear seat window shades. Individual optional interior upgrades include massaging front seats, synthetic suede headliner, and wood blend upholstery.
Safety
As you'd likely expect with a Volvo, there's plenty of safety features to enjoy. The Volvo XC90 includes a standard suite of driver assistance features with all trim levels. That suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic warning, rear automatic braking, front/rear parking sensors, driver attention warning, traffic sign reader, and automatic high beams.
